As Kylian Mbappe nets against Manchester City, remarkable Champions Leagu stat comes to the fore
Paris Saint Germain travelled to the Etihad to take on Manchester City in the knowledge that a win would take them through to the knockout rounds of the Champions League, while the hosts needed just a point to progress.
The inclusion of Kylian Mbappe, despite a suspected injury, was in itself a milestone as it brought up the young prodigy’s 50th Champions League appearance, for both PSG and formerly Monaco.
In reaching this milestone, he became the second-youngest player to ever do so, behind only Cesc Fabregas, who managed the feat at Arsenal.
50 – Kylian Mbappé will tonight make his 50th UEFA Champions League appearance – aged 22 years and 339 days, he is the second-youngest player to reach that milestone, behind only Cesc Fàbregas (22 years & 331 days). Veteran. pic.twitter.com/J4ERvh7US2

And what better way to mark the occasion than by netting the opening goal? Following some good work from Lionel Messi and Neymar, the French star buried the ball through the legs of Ederson and into the back of the net, giving PSG a little-deserved lead.

Manchester City have since equalised through Raheem Sterling.
Perhaps summing up Manchester City’s struggles in the Champions League, a surprising stat about Mbappe has since surfaced.
The PSG star netted his first-ever Champions League goal while playing against Manchester City, albeit for AS Monaco, in the 2016-17 season, as they put the Citizens out of the competition.

Now, on his 50th appearance for PSG, he has netted his 29th Champions League goal, also against Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola and co. must be getting sick of the sight of him.
