In-form attacker Christopher Nkunku has spoken about the reported transfer interest from Chelsea and revealed he is pretty nonplussed.
The 23-year-old, who plays as an attacking midfielder or a wide forward, has started the season for RB Leipzig in blistering form. He has netted nine goals in 10 games this term and his displays have had scouts from across Europe taking note.
Earlier this month Foot Mercato claimed Chelsea were keen on Nkunku. Of course Thomas Tuchel knows the player well from the pair’s time to together at Paris Saint-Germain.
The French outlet reported three concrete suitors for Nkunku. The others were Manchester City and Real Madrid.
In fact, City supposedly stepped up their interest after Nkunku scored a hat-trick against them in the Champions League.
Nevertheless, Nkunku still has three years left on the five-year deal he signed upon leaving PSG in 2019.
He also has no release clause, so Bild point out that Leipzig are in a strong negotiating position over his exit. However, the player has recently switched agents to Pini Zahavi and SportBild quizzed Nkunku over a transfer.
Nkunku said: If I was thinking of other clubs, we might as well forget our season goals.
“Big goals of our own are only realistic if we achieve something with Leipzig. Otherwise, these questions do not arise. I still have a contract until 2024 and I feel very comfortable at RB Leipzig.

Kounde interest from Man Utd
Elsewhere, Manchester United have revived their interest in centre-back Jules Kounde and are set to rival Chelsea for his signature, claims a report.
The Sevilla defender was mentioned as a target for United in the summer before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer landed Raphael Varane. The Real Madrid man, who will be out for a few weeks with a groin injury, arrived from Real Madrid for £41m.
The France star, who limped off against Spain, on Sunday has become Harry Maguire’s defensive partner.
However, United are still interested in Sevilla star Kounde, according to Fichajes, via Goal.
Chelsea locked on to the 22-year-old in the summer and looked destined to sign the five-cap star. Sevilla were understood to be asking for 50m and Chelsea lodged their 50m offer in the last week of the August transfer window.
However, Sevilla sporting director Monchi changed his mind. Instead, he demanded the centre-backs release clause, which stands at 80m. And Sevilla president Jose Castro pointed to the LaLiga club’s strength after rejected Chelsea’s offer.
