Lionel Messi improves his unbelievable goal-scoring record against English teams
The 34-year-old, remarkably, scored his 27th goal against an English club with his sublime strike against the Premier League champions in Paris.
The first came in the 2009 Champions League final against Manchester United and over 12 years later he is still putting English sides to the sword, although now wearing a PSG shirt rather than his iconic Barcelona jersey.
His 27 goals have come in just 35 appearances against English teams in the Champions League and the record absolutely destroys anything any other player has achieved against Premier League outfits.
Messi’s haul is 15 more than any other player has scored in the Champions League against English sides.
As ever, it is Cristiano Ronaldo that is closest to Messi in the stats, with the Manchester United man scoring 12 times against English clubs in the Champions League during his spells with Real Madrid and Juventus.
Ronaldo may be lagging behind his old rival by some distance in this stat, but given the Portuguese spent six years playing for an English side, it is still an incredible achievement to be into double figures against Premier League clubs.
Messi will have another chance to strike against English opposition in the next group stage meeting with Manchester City on 24 November when Pep Guardiola’s side will look for revenge for the 2-0 loss in Paris on Tuesday.
