Top 3 Everton players to sign on FPL 2021/22
Everton will be one of the harder sides to assess for your Fantasy Premier League side ahead of the season getting underway.
This comes with the Toffees now under new management. Rafa Benitez has been handed the reins at Goodison Park after Carlo Ancelotti left the club to re-join Real Madrid.
Ancelotti had a mixed 2020/21 with Everton, which saw them start brightly before tailing off and eventually dropping down to 10th in the league.
But how will Benitez get on with this Everton side? The Spaniard is generally a pretty conservative manager, so expect Everton’s defensive record to improve somewhat in the coming months.
This though, can often limit his side’s attacking potential somewhat, which is something you may wish to consider when looking at their FPL assets.
And now, 101 have picked out Everton’s three best FPL players for 2021/22.
Despite it unlikely that Everton will be a very attack-minded outfit under Rafa Benitez, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is still one to watch on FPL this year.
The forward has become Everton’s main no.9 in the last two campaigns, scoring 13 in 2019/20 and then 16 last season. He would also chip in with six assists in 2020/21.
Everton’s striking situation also likely means that DCL is a nailed-on starter and that most of Everton’s attacks will go through him in some way.
At 8.0m you may be slightly put off and instead wish to go for someone like Ollie Watkins at 7.5m.
But Everton do have a decent set of opening fixtures, not facing any of the top clubs until gameweek seven.
Lucas Digne has not been the most popular FPL choice in recent seasons, in part due to his 6.0m price.
However, at 5.5m he is now a more attractive option. The Frenchman chipped in with nine assists last term and eight the season prior, so he is clearly a decent bet if you wish to sign a defender who produces a nice amount of attacking returns.
And with Benitez now at the helm, Digne should also benefit from more clean sheets, having kept just nine in his last two campaigns.
Outside of Digne and Calvert-Lewin, Everton do not have that many great FPL options.
But Jordan Pickford at 5.0m could be a decent option if you do not fancy any of the 4.5m picks and do not want to spend too much on a keeper.
Pickford helped Everton keep 11 clean sheets in 2020/21 and that number should increase under Benitez’s guidance.
