Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has, on Saturday, confirmed that defender Alex Telles has picked up a fitness problem.
Sancho in/Varane to follow?
Those on the red half of Manchester are currently ramping up preparations for the new season.
To this point in the summer, the vast majority of the chatter surrounding ongoings at Old Trafford has of course centered on the club’s efforts on the transfer front.
This comes with the Red Devils having finally pushed a deal for Jadon Sancho over the line, and now turning their attentions firmly towards reinforcements at the back – in the form of Raphael Varane.
‘Out for a while’
Back at the club’s Carrington training base, though, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already hard at work, putting those at his disposal through their paces, ahead of what could prove to be a make or break season for the Norwegian in Manchester.
Saturday afternoon, meanwhile, sees the Reds playing out their 2nd pre-season friendly fixture, versus QPR. As things stand, things are not exactly going according to plan for Solskjaer and co. who, late in the action at Loftus Road, trail by four goals to two.
The current scoreline in the capital, however, marks far from the only concern for United this weekend.
This comes with the club’s boss, ahead of kick-off, having confirmed the first notable fitness blow suffered by the Manchester giants this summer.
The player to have picked up the problem? Alex Telles. The Portuguese full-back, fresh off an altogether challenging debut campaign at Old Trafford, has picked up an ankle injury, which is set to see him sidelined for ‘a few weeks’:
‘Unfortunately, Alex [Telles] slipped and he twisted his ankle so he will be out for a few weeks. We’re hoping that it’s not going to be too bad but he will be out for a little while.’
