Arsenal’s transfer priorities for summer window revealed
An insight into Arsenal’s summer transfer window priorities has emerged on Sunday.
The Gunners would have a pretty subpar 2020/21 on the whole. After securing an FA Cup during his first season in charge, Arsenal fans were no doubt eager to see Mikel Arteta build on that.
However, the Spaniard’s first full season in the Emirates dugout would be disappointing to say the least.
Arsenal would finish the campaign sat down in 8th place in the Premier League on a meager 61 points, meaning they will have no European football next term.
The north Londoners also failed to impress in all cup competitions, and would be knocked out of the Europa League by their previous manager, Unai Emery.
This leaves Mikel Arteta with a pretty huge task of improving this Arsenal side without both the finances that come with European football and also the lure it brings when trying to sign potential targets.
Despite this, Arsenal are seemingly going to be in the market for at least three players this summer.
As per a report from the Daily Mail on Sunday, the Gunners are prioritising a defender, midfielder and a no.10 this summer.
Starting at the back, the DM asserts that Brighton’s Ben White is top of their list, as Arteta wants to bring in a top-quality centre-back to compete with Gabriel and Rob Holding following David Luiz’s departure.
In central midfielder, it is claimed that Arsenal want to replace Granit Xhaka with Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga. Ruben Neves is also viewed as an option.
It is then reported that the north Londoners want a top-class no.10 to replace Martin Odegaard. A move for James Maddison is said to be unlikely, whilst Nabil Fekir is a more realistic option. Arsenal, however, are not said to have bid for the Real Betis star yet.
