Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club are far from finished on the additions front, following the long-awaited arrival of Memphis Depay.
Depay & Koeman reunite
The headlines news at the Camp Nou on Saturday of course surrounded the addition of Dutchman Depay to the Blaugrana’s ranks.
On the back of weeks of speculation, the Catalan giants finally made the gifted attacker’s signing official, with Depay set to link up with Ronald Koeman’s squad following the completion of the European Championships.
The ex-Manchester United man has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the Camp Nou:
Depay’s arrival marks the 4th at Barca already this summer, with the La Liga heavyweights having also wrapped up free agent deals for both of Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia, whilst bringing Emerson back from Real Betis.
‘A very competitive team’
As outlined above, though, if the latest comments on the part of Blaugrana president Joan Laporta are anything to go by, then those in a position of power at the Camp Nou are not prepared to rest on their laurels.
Barca have been tipped as a potential landing spot for a whole host of high-profile names already this summer, with the Catalans expected to target further reinforcements in the middle of the park, and potentially at centre-half, too.
In turn, speaking in anticipation of Depay’s signing being made official, Laporta was drawn on the club’s plans for the remainder of the summer window. And the Spaniard went on to explain:
‘Signings will be 3 or 4 more.’
‘We’re going to make a very competitive team. We’ve already seen it with the additions of Eric Garcia, Aguero and Emerson and the other players who are on the verge of signing.’
