Rio Ferdinand confident Manchester United will bid for Jadon Sancho this summer
United chased Sancho last summer but were not prepared to meet Dortmunds £109m valuation.
Dortmund have reportedly dropped their asking price to around £79m with sporting director Michael Zorc recently revealing that a gentleman’s agreement is in place to allow the winger to move if certain conditions were met.
We already had a gentleman’s agreement with Jadon last year that he can switch under certain conditions, Zorc told ARD. ‘He’s been with us for a few years. But there is no such agreement with Erling [Haaland].’
With Edinson Cavani committed to another season at Old Trafford, Ferdinand believes United can now shift focus to other areas of the team to strengthen, chiefly right wing and centre-half.
And the former United defender believes Sancho will be the player United pursue to fill that role in attack.
When asked if he believes United will be in for Sancho, Ferdinand told BT Sport: I do, yeah, if hes available.
From what you read in the media, they probably had a deal behind closed doors that hes got one more season there that he gives them, then hell be eligible to go for the right price.
If he is available, I think Manchester United go for him. The right wing area, Mason can play there, hes been effective there, but they want someone out-and-out, who can cross for the likes of Mason, Cavani and Rashford.
I think those two positions, after Cavani signed, I dont think theyll go in the market for a number nine – right wing and centre-half.
