Arsenal make first ‘formal offer’ for Aouar / Frenchman reportedly ‘agreed to join’ Gunners

Arsenal make first ‘formal offer’ for Aouar / Frenchman reportedly ‘agreed to join’ Gunners

The saga continues

Arsenal’s transfer sagas are typically drawn-out affairs, with eager fans of the club going the extra mile to get the latest information on possible incomings.

However, the Gunners faithful may soon enjoy a long-awaited celebration, as top target Houssem Aouar has reportedly ‘agreed’ to join the club.

According to French-based outlets, Arsenal and Lyon are yet to come to an agreement regarding price, but, crucially, the north Londoners are said to have submitted their first formal offer.

Get French Football News were informed that that the proposal came in around the 40 million mark:

This falls short of the previously reported figure which Lyon had been demanding. Arsenal, faced with financial restrictions, will look to save as much money as possible during negotiations. They may, however, struggle to agree a fee if bidding significantly below the asking price.

Third best?

What may not excite Arsenal fans as much, though, is that the same report also highlighted Aouar’s preferred destination.

The 22-year-old reportedly favours a move to Barcelona or Juventus. However, firm offers from either club have not materialised, and with Lyon out of Europe, Arsenal have presented themselves as the only viable option.

Considering the stature of Barcelona and Juventus, though, it is not surprising that a player would seek employment at such clubs.

Former Gunners Head of Football Raul Sanhelli previously said that: “When Arsenal knocks on the door of players, its a different knock than other clubs.”

This famous knock may not possess quite the level of allure of the Blaugrana or the Bianconeri, but it will seemingly do for Aouar.
