Arteta confirms Arsenal yet to start contract negotiations with Lacazette

Arsenal see off West Ham

Saturdays late Premier League kick-off pitted two London rivals against each other.

Arsenal would welcome West Ham to the Emirates as they looked to make it two wins from two this term.

West Ham, meanwhile, were looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat vs Newcastle.

And after Alexandre Lacazette fired the Gunners into the lead after 25 minutes on Saturday, David Moyes and co. looked to be staring a second successive loss in the face.

However, Michail Antonio would equalise for West Ham just before the break, with the visitors then going on to dominate the tie.

For all West Hams dominance, though, they were unable to find a second goal.

The Hammers were then made to pay for their lack of cutting edge when substitute Eddie Nketiah netted an 85th-minute winner for the north Londoners.

Arteta on Lacazette negotiations

As is customary, Mikel Arteta would hold a press conference following Saturdays win.

The Spaniard was drawn on a number of topics during the presser, one of which was Alexandre Lacazette.

The Frenchman has less than two years left on his current contract and has previously been linked with a move to Spain.

Yet despite stating he is really happy with the hitman, Arteta would confirm post-West Ham that the club are yet to start contract negotiations with Lacazette:

At the moment we havent started any negotiations. We have a lot of things still to do in this market.

He is a player I am really happy with. I think we showed him a lot of faith since I arrived here. But we cannot stop any speculation.

We know that any player that is under two years contract is always going to be talked about.
