Updates on the fitness of Paris Saint-Germain pair Kylian Mbappe and Marco Verratti have this weekend been forthcoming, ahead of the French champions’ upcoming meeting with Atalanta.
The Champions League campaign of course got back underway on Friday night, with the first two of four last-16 outings.
All of Manchester City, Lyon, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have since advanced, at the expense of Real Madrid, Juventus, Napoli and Chelsea respectively.
As such, attentions will now switch to the competition’s quarter-final stage.
The most high-profile tie unquestionably comes in the form of Barca vs Bayern, with fans across the globe no doubt raring for the star-studded showdown between Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski.

Another of the Champions League’s last-8 ties which certainly possesses all of the ingredients for an explosive affair, though, comes in the form of PSG’s meeting with Atalanta.
The former of course boast a number of world football’s most gifted attackers within their ranks, with the trident of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi enough to cause any side problems.
Atalanta, though, have proven the fairytale story of the Champions League campaign thus far, with Serie A’s great entertainers having carried their incredible domestic exploits onto the European stage with an 8-4 drubbing of Valencia in the competition’s last round.
As such, though PSG will, for obvious reasons, head into Wednesday’s matchup as favourites to advance, the Ligue 1 giants will no doubt be acutely aware of Atalanta’s potential to cause an upset.
And, as outlined above, ahead of their biggest outing of the season thus far, updates on a pair of the key members of Thomas Tuchel’s squad have this weekend been forthcoming.
First up is Kylian Mbappe. French international Mbappe has been sidelined for a little over two weeks now, having been forced off early in PSG’s domestic cup final victory over Saint-Etienne.
In a major boost to the prospects of the capital heavyweights in 3 days’ time, though, confirmation has been forthcoming that the 21-year-old managed to take part in an individual training session, as he inches towards a return to full fitness.
The injured Layvin Kurzawa was also present at PSG’s latest training session.
The news on Marco Verratti, however, is of a less positive nature.
Midfield maestro Verratti is currently nursing a calf problem, picked up in training earlier this week.
And PSG have confirmed that, despite the rest of Thomas Tuchel’s squad having already made the trip to Lisbon for the remainder of their Champions League campaign, Verratti was forced to remain in Paris, with the Italian now looking certain to miss out versus Atalanta.
