Jurgen Klopp responds to Roberto Firmino’s Anfield goal drought
Jurgen Klopp has recently spoken out over Roberto Firminos poor goal-scoring record at Anfield this term.
Saturdays only 3 pm Premier League kick-off saw Liverpool welcome Burnley to Anfield.
The Reds have had the PL title wrapped up for some time now, but they were still chasing a number of records ahead of the clash with the Clarets.
One of which was becoming the first side to win every home game in a single top-flight season since all the way back in 1891-92.
And after Andy Robertson headed Liverpool into the lead after 34 minutes on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp and co. looked set to be just one game away from matching such an impressive feat.
However, Jay Rodriguez equalised for the visitors with just over 20 minutes remaining and Liverpool were unable to find a reply.
Whilst Liverpools home record this term, regardless of two dropped points vs Burnley, has been exceptional, Roberto Firmino has struggled a fair bit at Anfield.
In fact, should the Brazilian fail to score against Chelsea in 10 days time, he will have gone an entire league campaign without netting at home.
Obviously, Firmino isnt your typical centre-forward and isnt overly relied on to score for Liverpool. But even so, such a stat for many people would be somewhat of a concern.
However, one man who isnt seemingly too bothered about Firminos goal drought at Anfield is Klopp.
Speaking about the hitman post-match, the German stated:
“It cannot become a psychological problem for him because Bobby played an outstanding game today and we don’t judge him, so I hope he won’t read your newspaper if you make a story of it.
“We just don’t think about it. It’s not important who scores. We need Bobby for other things. We need Bobby in exactly the spaces where he was today. We need him as the link-up for all the other things.
“We only have chances because Bobby plays the way he plays, and he will score, there’s absolutely no doubt about it. We are not worried at all about that, because he played an outstanding game today and was involved in so many decisive situations.
“Nobody scored apart from Robbo [Robertson] with a header, so it will not become a problem.”
