An Ikea customer was pulled over by cops on a busy motorway for blocking his car windscreen with two flat-pack wardrobes.

The dozy motorist was behind the wheel of a Hyundai when he was stopped by stunned officers on the M6 near Birmingham yesterday.

Officers found the driver had crammed two £210 Pax wardrobes into the car which were obscuring more than half the windscreen.

The driver told officers from the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) he was making a return journey from the nearby Ikea store in Wednesbury.

He was fined and received penalty points on his driving licence.

CMPG posted pictures of the car on Twitter, and said: Do you pay for @Ikea delivery or endanger other road users through your lack of driving view…

Tough decision for some, in this case the delivery would of been considerably cheaper than the fine & points for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition, M6 south J6.

Social media piled in to shame the driver, with some branding him thick as a flat-pack wardrobe.

Writing on Twitter, Jennifer Hart said: Oh my god how stupid can someone be! Risking lives for the sake of an Ikea wardrobe. I really do despair.

Arthur Hope wrote: Clearly this guy has no Ikea about the highway code.

Writing on Facebook, Jonny Steele said: Some people are thick as two short planks but this guys as thick as a flat-pack wardrobe!
