Baby taken to hospital ‘after car clipped pushchair in Aldi car park’
A baby was taken to hospital after falling out of a buggy that was reportedly hit by a car in an Aldi car park.
The incident happened at the supermarket on Rushbottom Lane in Benfleet, Essex, yesterday morning.
Emergency services were called at around 11.15am.
Photographs taken at the scene show a police cordon in place along with police cars and at least one ambulance.
Crowds of shoppers formed near the cordon while police worked at the scene.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: ‘We were called shortly after 11.15am on Wednesday, October 21, with reports that a baby had fallen from a buggy at the entrance of Aldi supermarket car park on Rushbottom Lane, Benfleet.
‘It was reported that a car may have clipped the buggy as it drove past.
‘The baby was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
‘Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area and has dashcam footage is asked to contact 101 quoting the reference 522 of October 21.’
